Hawthorne Fine Art will support the efforts of the newly founded Feminist Art Coalition in their plan to sponsor a national series of events dedicated to the careers of women artists. The series will take place from September to November in the fall of 2020 and will incorporate the efforts of a range of museums, nonprofit institutions, and art exhibition spaces. A small selection of the planned exhibitions is already listed in the recent announcement on Art Fix Daily.
The year 2020 will be the centennial of the 19th amendment that granted women the right to vote in 1920. To celebrate, the Feminist Art Coalition plans to “present a series of concurrent events—including commissions, exhibitions, performances, talks, and symposia” as a “strategic endeavor” that will tale “feminist thought and practice as its point of departure and considers art as a catalyst for discourse and civic engagement.”
In addition to Hawthorne Fine Art’s current exhibition, “Triumphant Lives: American Women Artists (1795-1950),” the gallery will plan to present an exhibition of women artists concurrent with the coalition’s series in the fall of 2020. Hawthorne Fine Art is dedicated to the great task of re-discovering and exhibiting the work of American women artists and will continue this mission alongside any future initiatives.
